Rafaela Miranda Rocha
Rafaela Miranda Rocha is an artist, journalist and actress from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After years working in TV and Cinema, Rocha decided to explore her passion for visual arts and moved to London to study Foundation in Art and Design at Central Saint Martins. Her practice as a fine art photographer consists mainly of abstract images. She uses photography as an investigative tool. She developed a series of works that use the camera to bring forth otherwise unnoticed details of ev eryday life. Some works are later deconstructed and translated into other media such as painting and illustration. “You can take the girl out of Rio…” explores the idea of identity and its unconscious effect on perception. London’s mostly flat urban env ironment can be a bit ov erwhelming at times – day after day we find ourselv es immersed in the city, surrounded by architecture. This series brings forth a micro coastal landscape hidden deep into the structure of London’s Tower Bridge, where one can get carried away and rediscov er the joy of gazing far out into the horizon.
